1、 Overview of current situation
According to the data provided by the city street lamp office, there are currently 165 street lamp distribution boxes in the urban area of Zhangshu City. The total power of the street lamps is about 1680KW, and the electricity price is calculated at 0.7 yuan/KWH. The annual operating electricity expenditure is about 4.3 million yuan. The current system operation situation is as follows:
l、 Inefficient lighting methods
At present, although some sections of Zhangshu City are preparing to install intelligent remote monitoring systems for on/off light control, energy-saving renovations have not yet been carried out. Some sections still adopt decentralized time control methods, and using ordinary time control devices to control the on/off of street lights does not have energy-saving functions. The current urban road lighting averages 10 hours per day. After 23:00, there are fewer cars and fewer people on the road, especially from midnight to 6am. The brightness of the lighting is enhanced, and it cannot be adjusted as needed. In addition, most of the street lights in urban areas have voltage exceeding the rated voltage, resulting in energy waste and shortening the actual service life of street light bulbs, increasing maintenance and repair costs. Some use ordinary time control devices to control street lights, which not only fail to save energy, but also easily cause noise pollution and light source pollution.
At present, in order to save electricity, some road sections in our city have switched from using midnight lights or double row street lights to using single row street lights. This means that after midnight, some street lights are turned off or only half of the street lights are lit. In terms of lighting effect, the "midnight lights" method causes the road section to be pitch black or not bright enough in the second half of the night. Although this energy-saving method does not require further investment, the cost is that it not only causes inconvenience and safety hazards to pedestrians and vehicles at night, but also poses a risk to urban security.
2. The electricity cost and maintenance cost of street lamps are rising
In 2015, the annual electricity cost for street lamps in Zhangshu City was over 4.3 million yuan. Due to the shortage of energy, the electricity cost is increasing year by year. At the same time, with the development and expansion of the city, the number of street lamps is also rapidly increasing every year, so the electricity expenditure for street lamps is also increasing year by year.
Currently, over 70% of urban street lights are high-pressure sodium lamps, with a design lifespan of 24000 hours (5 years). However, due to the poor quality of electricity, the actual service life of light bulbs is less than one year. Therefore, the operation and maintenance costs of the massive streetlight system have become a major burden on our city's finances.
